Mammootty, the megastar of Mollywood is currently busy with filming of his new movie 'Maamankam'. The film recently ran into controversies when it was reported that young actor Dhruvan was expelled from the movie's cast. Now, it has been reported that Unni Mukundan, the young Mollywood hunk has been roped in to play a crucial role in this film. It is still unclear whether Unni is replacing Dhruvan in 'Maamankam'.
Unni Mukundan himself confirmed this news on his official social media handle. In the post, he shared his excitement to become a part of a big budget movie 'Maamankam'.
'Maamankam' penned and directed by Sajeev Pillai will showcase the story of a group of warriors who waged a war against the Zamorin rulers in ancient Kerala. The film is being apparently shot in a pan Indian scale and it is expected to be the most expensive Mammootty movie of all time.
Apart from Mammootty and Unni Mukundan, 'Maamaankam' also stars Neeraj Madhav, Meghanathan, and Prachi Tehlan in other prominent roles.
As per close sources to the movie, two schedules of the movie has already been completed, and the makers will begin the next schedule this month itself. If everything goes well, the film will have its theatrical release in the final quarter of 2019.
Unni Mukundan's next release is 'Mikhael' which is being directed by Haneef Adeni, who made a grand entry in Mollywood with the movie 'The Great Father'. Nivin Pauly is playing the lead role in the movie, while Unni Mukundan enacts the character of Marco Jr, the lead antagonist. The supporting star cast includes Sudev Nair, Manjima Mohan, Kalabhavan Shajon, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Siddique, Babu Antony and Ashokan. This film is expected to be a dark thriller, and the makers have apparently shot some breathtaking action scenes between Nivin and Unni.
'Mikhael' will have its theatrical release on January 18, 2019.
