We don't get to watch fierce battles between PC makers, but events like Computex are always exciting battlegrounds. Computex Taipei, where all the cutting-edge PC technologies are first seen, witnessed some interesting launches on first day of its trade show.
Asus is making sure the event's charm is intact by launching interesting laptops. Among series of Asus laptops launched at the Taiwan-based trade show, the ZenBook Flip S really caught everyone's eye. For most part, the laptop's ultra-sleek design did the trick, but the high-end specifications could not go unnoticed.
Asus ZenBook Flip S measures just 10.9mm, which makes it the world's thinnest laptop ever. That's even when compared against the sleek MacBook, MacBook Air and HP Spectre x360, which measure 13.1mm, 17mm and 13.8mm, respectively. To top it all off, the ZenBook Flip S is also a convertible and weighs lighter than HP Spectre x360 and MacBook Air at 2.4 pounds.
By making the laptop superslim, Asus hasn't compromised on the specifications part. The ZenBook Flip S has some serious hardware that can put other high-end machines to shame. The 2-in-1 convertible has a 13.3-inch 4K touch screen display protected with Corning Gorilla Glass, supports Windows Ink with optional Asus Pen, USB Type-C port for fast charging, up to 11.5 hours of battery life and a fingerprint sensor for authentication.
Talk about a high-end PC that can turn into a tablet whenever you like.
To suit various consumer demands, the ZenBook Flip S will come in different configurations. The base model will have a Core i5-7200U Intel Lake based processor, which pairs with either 8GB or 16GB 2133MHz memory and 256GB or 512GB solid state storage.
Moving up the ladder, you'll get the ZenBook Flip S with Core i7-7500U processor, paired with the same RAM and storage configuration. There will be an extra 1TB solid state storage option to choose from in the high-end variant.
To wrap up the spec-sheet, the ZenBook Flip S has standard features such as webcam, Harmon Kardon speakers, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.1. Asus ZenBook Flip S availability is expected in September and prices will start at $1,099.
