With only a few weeks left for "Udta Punjab" to hit the screens, the makers are planning on getting their cast to go for a city-wide musical tour. Rumour has it, Shahid Kapoor will not be part of the promotional campaign and spend the time by wife Mira Rajput instead, who is a few months pregnant.
However, Balaji Motion Pictures CEO Aman Gill rubbished the news saying the actor has been actively promoting the crime-drama and will continue doing it. "It's absolutely baseless. In fact Shahid has been there for all the promotional activities across and continues to promote as we speak. Unlike other films, with Udta Punjab we are being very selective with the GEC shows that we visit, owing to the content of the film," he told the Asian Age.
The idea of holding concerts is fantastic considering Shahid's character Tommy Singh is a rockstar. "Yes we are planning a few music activities with the lead actors across a few cities to promote the music of the film," Marketing Head of Zee Music Kirthi Rai confirmed the news to the leading daily.
Meanwhile, Mira was checked into Mumbai's Hinduja Healthcare Surgical over the weekend, SpotboyE reported. She was admitted for routine tests and check-up; Shahid was there by her side for the entire time. Mira is in her second trimester and the baby is due September.
"Udta Punjab" opens in theatres on June 17. The Abhishek Chaubey directorial focuses on four people — a rockstar (Shahid), hockey player (Alia Bhatt), doctor (Kareena Kapoor Khan) and a cop (Diljit Dosanjh) — and how their lives have drug abuse as a common thread.
