It was announced during Cannes Film Festival this year that Saif Ali Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had been finalised for Sujoy Ghosh's next untitled film, but reports suggest that the project has now been shelved.
Sujoy Ghosh's next project was supposed to be an adaptation of a novel titled, "The Devotion of Suspect X" and after much rumours about the film's cast, Saif and Aishwarya were roped in for the project.
However, the novel is apparently similar to Ajay Devgn-Tabu starrer "Drishyam", which was released recently and hence, the film-maker has reportedly put the project on the back burner.
"I have a feeling that if we had done that, we should have done it before 'Drishyam' came out. The story is very similar to 'Drishyam'. I don't know if it has been shelved or not as nobody told me about it," DNA quoted Saif Ali Khan as saying, when asked if the movie had been shelved.
"Sujoy has spaced himself out to work on his next film. He has left 'The Devotion of Suspect X' far behind now. He is concentrating on getting the pre-production work done for 'Durga Rani'", the daily quoted a source as saying.
The novel "The Devotion of Suspect X" is a story about a man who leaves no stone unturned to protect his daughter and a neighbour who are accused of murder.
In other news, Aishwarya is all set to make a comeback with her film "Jazbaa", while Saif and Katrina Kaif starrer "Phantom" hit theatres today.
