Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Padmavati" is expected to roll in another two months, but the central cast is yet to be finalised. From what has been reported so far, Deepika Padukone will be playing the queen and Ranveer Singh the shrewd ruler Alauddin Khilji.
However, there's big question mark on who will play the king. The newest speculation is that Fawad Khan may be roped in for the role.
"Bhansali wants 200 days from all his lead actors, including Ranveer Singh (plays Alauddin Khilji) and Deepika (Padmavati). Fawad has those days to spare. In between, he has Karan Johar's production, but it should not be a problem as KJo and Bhansali share a good equation. So they will work it out. It's too big an offer for Fawad to pass up," DNA quoted a source as saying.
This Pakistani actor isn't the first one to be associated with the project. Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Shahid Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal are some A-listers in the running for the role.
Vicky, the "Raman Raghav 2.0" actor, was apparently asked to leave because he had made his association with the film public. Also, Deepika wasn't interested in working with someone who is just three films old in the industry.
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh has reportedly shown interest in the project, but the makers are more interested in exploring Hrithik and Deepika's chemistry.
However, the husband hunt needs to capped off as soon as possible because the director is planning on filming intimate scenes between the king and queen during the first leg of the schedule.
"Padmavati" is Ranveer and Deepika's third film together after "Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela" and "Bajirao Mastani."
