In the past, the Central Board of Film Certification has drawn flak for most of its decisions. After refusing to award "Udta Punjab" with a certificate, the board has apparently passed "Housefull 3" with five major cuts.
According to the Asian Age, "innuendos and abusive words" were asked to be removed. "Also there was a song in which words were found 'objectionable'. The Housefull team however, had come to the censor board with alternative words for the songs as they had anticipated objections to certain words. So they immediately replaced those words with new ones and took the censor certification," a source told the leading daily.
The comic caper has been granted a U/A certificate. What's new about this is it's a first for a "Housefull" film, producer Sajid Nadiadwala and Akshay Kumar. Their films were apparently never snipped this bad.
Meanwhile, Akshay is positive that the franchise film will do well at the ticket window as it's an entertaining one. One of the other unique selling points of it happens to be the actor's character, Sandy.
"I have never played a character with a split personality. So that is another USP of Housefull 3," Akshay told Catch News. "Every character has a different USP and this is a complete family entertainer. Very few comedies are made in India. You should go to the cinema hall and just enjoy. Go watch it with family, have some laughs," he added.
"Housefull 3" opens in theatres on June 3. Directed by Sajid-Farhad, the film stars Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Nargis Fakhri, Jacqueline Fernandez, Lisa Haydon, Chunky Pandey, Jackie Shroff and Boman Irani in significant roles.
