Aamir Khan has maintained a trend of throwing Diwali party every year for his Bollywood friends but this year was an exception.
Aamir is currently in Ludhiana, Punjab, for the shooting of "Dangal", where his wife Kiran Rao and son joined him for Diwali celebration, as the actor had to cancel plans of hosting a bash in Mumbai.
"Every year, Aamir and Kiran host Diwali parties on the day of the festival and the next day. All of his friends from the industry, including Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Karan Johar, Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone and Rajkumar Hirani, among others, attend these parties. Kiran takes care of the decor of the house," said a spokesperson for Aamir in a statement.
The spokesperson added that when Aamir's friends came to know that there won't be any party this year, the actor got many phone calls.
"Aamir's friends were disappointed, and even asked him to change his schedule," said the spokesperson.
Although the "Dangal" actor could not host a Diwali bash in Mumbai this year, Aamir celebrated the festival with his wife and son at Ludhiana by arranging a small bash.
Aamir's upcoming movie "Dangal" is based on the life of the legendary wrestler Mahavir Phogat and the actor has gained a lot of weight for his role.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, "Dangal" is slated to be released in December next year.
