South Korean actor and singer Jung Joon Young, who was embroiled in a sexual assault case, is apparently taking a break from his professional commitments. The actor-singer is heading to France after receiving a clean chit in the case.
"Jung Joon Young is going to France this week to work on music," a source told Star News on October 14, adding that, "he is not yet thinking about a return to TV broadcasts."
Last month, Joon Young was involved in a sexual assault controversy that forced him to step down from several shows, including 2 Days & 1 Night and Mr. Baek: The Homemade Food Master. Joon Young's ex-girlfriend had filed a sexual assault case against the actor-singer.
His agency C9 Entertainment later issued a statement saying that his ex-girlfriend had filed the case based on some misunderstanding, but she has taken back the case. But the actor got clean chit this month after Seoul Eastern Prosecutors Office acquitted him of all the charges in the sexual assault case.
The controversy has affected his professional life, as the actor had to step down from his major shows and also cancel his performance with his band. After leaving KBS's drama 2 Days & 1 Night, the actor was edited out of the reality show Law of the Jungle.
"The footage of Jung Joon Young in the South Pacific season of 'Law of the Jungle,' which is set to air in early November, was already filmed before he was charged on September 23," the official statement of the channel read.
But now, since the actor has been acquitted fans can expect him to comeback with his music album.
