Of late, speculations have been doing the rounds that Star Plus' "Diya Aur Baati Hum" will go off air owing to the constant drop in its ratings. While the show's fans were hopeful that the makers would continue entertaining them, according to latest report, "Diya Aur Baati Hum," which went on air five years ago, is slated to get pulled off in August.
The report said that the show's makers have apparently decided to air the last episode on August 15. "The show is about to get wrap up soon. They might air their last episode on 15th August this year," a source told India Forums.
Although "Diya Aur Baati Hum," with its unique concept and the powerful performances by the cast, was one of the top shows since its inception, for the past few months it has been experiencing drastic fall in the ratings.
Besides the low Television Rating Points (TRPs), there were reports that the makers were apparently quite upset with the tantrums of the lead actors Deepika Singh (Sandhya) and Anas Rashid (Sooraj), who are apparently not on good terms.
Also, Anas made headlines recently when reports said that he was apparently always late for the shoot and kept the cast and crew waiting for him for long hours. The issues with the cast as well as the low TRPs have apparently forced the makers to consider the idea of shutting it down.
However, Shashi Mittal, the producer of the show, had refuted the reports of the lead pair throwing tantrums. "It's like a family. There is nobody who is throwing tantrums," Mittal had told the Times of India.
