Sticking to his birthday resolution of working on at least two films every year, Hrithik Roshan is simultaneously working on "Kaabil" and "Mohenjo Daro," which is out on Aug. 12. The news is, he may take up "Thug" soon after the period film releases.
To be directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, the film will roll sometime in September, Catch News reported. The action-thriller will be a franchise film and may star Deepika Padukone in the lead.
"Deepika is the perfect choice for the film. Victor feels Dippy will do total justice to the role. It is an action film where Hrithik will yet again be playing a thief like he did in Dhoom 2. But this will be bigger and better," a source told DNA last year. Rumour has it, the actress is in "advanced talks" with the makers.
Also, Amitabh Bachchan may have been signed on for the project. The senior actor may not have too much of screen time, however, he does have an important role to play, sources said.
"Thug" was reported to be a film similar to Johnny Depp's "Pirates Of The Caribbean," but sources have rubbished the news saying it's nothing like the Hollywood movie. "The film with Hrithik is not as reported. It is not on the lines of Pirates of the Caribbean. The film has all elements like drama, action, humour, romance, song. It's an action adventure film," the Press Trust of India quoted an insider as saying.
"Thug" will, in all probabilities, release in the second half of 2017.
