The fairly new show, Shakti-Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki, which deals with the sensitive subject of transgenders, has been successful in winning hearts of audience. This is reflected in the Television Rating Points (TRPs) charts as well. The show has managed to grab the top position in the rating charts with 3.4 points on week 37 of 2016.
Rubina Dilaik, who plays the role of transgender Soumya, too has been receiving overwhelming response from viewers. Talking about the success of the show, Rubina told SpotboyE: "It encourages me to do much better. To be honest, my nervousness has increased. Now that the show is doing really good, I feel a lot more responsible. It is difficult to sustain success and that is my next battle."
While the actress said that she was apprehensive of taking up the show, her boyfriend and actor Abhinav Shukla, didn't have second thoughts and considered it to be a golden opportunity for her to essay the unusual role. "He jumped in joy. I was apprehensive to take up this show because it deals with a sensitive issue, but Abhinav didn't have any second thoughts. He told me, 'This is a golden opportunity and you can't let it go.' When I broke the news about Shakti topping the rating chart, he said, 'I told you,'" she said.
Rubina's look as a transgender that was revealed by the makers recently, has also been accepted by the viewers, much to the team's joy.
The actress, however, believes that since the Indian audience has never really been comfortable watching content related to the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) community, it is important for the team to narrate the story in a convincing manner. The makers of the show hope to break the stigma associated with the third gender through Soumya's journey and bridge the gap between the viewers and the LGBT community.
In the upcoming episodes of Shakti-Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki, Soumya, who is now a part of the transgender community, will be seen following their culture and traditions. Not just that, she will also have a new identity, Tarana.
