Star Wars: Episode IX is going to be graced by the presence of General Leia Organa. Carrie Fisher's brother, Todd Fisher, has now teased the millions of Fisher's fans that the final installment of the latest Star Wars sequel trilogy is going to have previously unseen footage of the late actress.
Carrie Fisher passed away in 2016 but as reported by several media experts, a vital role was planned for the late actor in Star Wars: Episode IX. It was earlier stated by Lucasfilm that there were no plans to digitally generate Fisher's performance as they had done for Rogue One. However, Fisher's brother stated that he and Fisher's daughter had allowed Lucasfilm and Disney the rights to use recent footage of the actress. Following this, Lucasfilm confirmed that unused footage of Carrie Fisher from The Last Jedi would be used, reports The Washington Post.
"We desperately loved Carrie Fisher. Finding a truly satisfying conclusion to the Skywalker saga without her eluded us. We were never going to recast or use a CG character. With the support and blessing from her daughter, Billie, we have found a way to honor Carrie's legacy and role as Leia in Episode IX by using unseen footage we shot together in Episode VII," Abrams stated earlier.
Oscar Issac, who plays Poe Dameron, earlier confirmed that the upcoming movie will deal with the loss of Carrie Fisher and her iconic character. Earlier this week, Fisher's brother revealed more exciting details.
While speaking with ABC News, Todd revealed that they have a good amount of unused footage of his sister as Princess Leia.
"There's a lot of minutes of footage. I don't mean just outtakes. This is unused, new content that could be woven into the story-line. That's what's going to give everybody such a great kick. It's going to look like it was meant to be," he said.
The upcoming Star Wars movie is co-written and directed by J. J. Abrams. It is going to be the third and final installment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy and the final installment of the Star Wars Skywalker saga. John Boyega, who plays Finn in the new trilogy, had earlier reported that the movie will have a time jump.
Apart from Issac, Boyega, and Fisher, Star Wars: Episode IX will star Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong'o, Kelly Marie Tran, Matt Smith, and others in important roles. As of now, the film is scheduled to release on December 20.
