This year, movie lovers have a long list of high-budget films to watch out for in different genres, including remakes, comedy, thriller and others.
While the earlier half of the year saw some films scoring big at the box office, the third quarter of the year (July to September) will witness the release of some highly anticipated multi-starrer films.
"Bajrangi Bhaijaan" (releasing 16 July): Starring Salman Khan, the film can undoubtedly be called the most anticipated film of the year. The recently released trailer also garnered massive responses from fans across the globe. "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" also features Kareena Kapoor Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in important roles.
"Masaan" (releasing 24 July): Starring Richa Chadha in prominent roles, "Masaan" revolves around two parallel stories: the first is about a boy from a lower caste falling in love with an upper caste girl, and the other about an upper caste girl (Richa) and her father dealing with a sex sandal. In the 68th Cannes Film Festival, the film received a standing ovation from the jury and was selected in the Un Certain Regard category.
"Drishyam" (releasing 31 July): The thriller drama has been creating news as it is a remake of Malayalam blockbuster, starring Mohanlal and Meena. The Hindi version has Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran and Tabu in lead roles.
"Bangistaan" (releasing 31 July): Starring Riteish Deshmukh and Pulkit Samrat, the comedy flick is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. The movie also stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Arya Babbar in pivotal roles.
"Calender Girls" (releasing 7 August): The popular director/producer Madhur Bhandarkar's "Calender Girls" revolves around five models and their journey in the glamour world. The casts and the storyline has been kept under wraps by the makers.
"Brothers" (releasing 14 August): Karan Johar production venture is creating a huge buzz among fans. Starring Akshay Kumar and Sidharth Malhotra, the film is the official remake of Hollywood flick "Warrior" and will revolve around two estranged brothers, who come across each other in a martial arts tournament.
"All is Well" (releasing 21 August): Starring Abhishek Bachchan and senir actor Rishi Kapoor, "All is Well" is a romantic family drama and also features Asin in female lead role.
"Phantom" ( releasing 28 August): Directed by Kabir Khan, the film features fresh onscreen couple Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif. The two are playing secret agents in the flick.
"Katti Batti"(releasing 18 September): Is a contemporary love story between two different people whose relationship hits a roadblock when their lives take an unexpected turn. The film is garnering a lot of attention as it stars Kangana Ranaut, whose last release "Tanu weds Manu Returns" turned out to be a blockbuster. The film has Imran Khan opposite the "Queen" actress.
"Hero" (releasing 25 September): Produced by Salman Khan, "Hero" is a remake of the Subhash Ghai directorial with the same title that was released in 1983. The remake has newcomers Sooraj Pacholi, son of actor Aditya Pancholi, and Athiya Shetty, daughter of Sunil Shetty, in the lead roles.
