Tamil movie "Theri" has created a record at the Mayajaal Multiplex, the second largest multiplex in Asia. The Vijay-starrer crossed one lakh footfalls and grossed Rs. 1.21 crore in 13 days.

The multiplex has 16 screens and plays above 80 shows during the big occasions. Vijay's "Theri" released on April 14 and reportedly had 81 shows on the first day in Mayajaal. The movie ran in packed houses in almost all the shows and registered close to cent percent occupancy on the first day.
The average-to-good reviews from the viewers helped "Theri" to perform well. The Tamil movie has collected over Rs. 8 crore in Chennai alone, as per a tweet by Sreedhar Pillai. The gross collection of the Kollywood flick in Tamil Nadu comes close to Rs. 60 crore.
The best part of the success story is that "Theri" has done fantastic collection in the overseas centres. The 11-day estimated collection from the international centre stands at Rs. 41.85 crore.
The Vijay-starrer has minted $715,378 (Rs 4.76 crore) in the U.S., $395,155 (Rs. 2.08 crore) in Canada, MYR 5,021,360 (Rs. 8.56 crore) in Malaysia, £376,489 (Rs 3.62 crore) in the U.K., A$ 377,617 (Rs 1.94 crore) in Australia, NZ$23,950 in New Zealand, $32,022 (Rs 21.32 lakh) in Norway, €278,803 (Rs 2.08 crore) in France and about $2.70 million (Rs. 17.96 crore) from other parts of the world.
"Theri" features Samantha and Amy Jackson in the female lead roles. Atlee Kumar has written and directed the flick, which is produced by Kalaippuli S Thanu.
