Publisher Bethesda Softworks' upcoming survival horror video game with Shinji Mikami as the director has released a new extended gameplay trailer.
The trailer that runs close to 12 minutes shows nerve-racking horror that is expected of the game, with the music accentuating terror and splatter of blood almost everywhere.
Players will be playing Detective Sebastian Castellanos who rushes to a scene of mass murder but he himself is witness to the death of his other officers. The trailer starts where Castellanos loses consciousness to wake up tied upside down and realises that he will be butchered by these psycho monsters. Castellanos has to make a way through blood and gore conquering his inner fears and manages to pull a knife from another mangled body.
He cuts his rope apart and makes his way to a door, which he finds locked. He stealthily grabs keys and heads out but trips on an alarm system only to find the cannibal chainsaw monster attacking him. He limps and runs his way and makes it into a different storey. He then opens a huge door that leads him outside the building but to his surprise the outside world is totally devastated due to unknown reasons.
He makes his way across entering a small house and manages to find some medical kit and a revolver. But is again attacked by monsters who enter the house from the window. He fixes mine to deflect them but there is a big hoard of them. He escapes and moves from one door to another. As he tries to escape, every door heightens surprise and horror for the player. The trailer comes to an end with a mysterious spider-like monster with long hair attacking Castellanos.
The game was officially revealed on April 19, 2013 and is being developed by Tango Gameworks, running on a modified id Tech 5 engine.
The Evil Within is expected to be released in 2014 for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
