2K Marin's science fiction video game, The Bureau: XCOM Declassified gets its first downloadable content (DLC) titled 'Hangar 6 R&D.'
The studio released details about the game's new DLC saying that the game takes place sometime before Agent Carter's adventures in the main game, before the beginning of the alien invasion.
The game's protagonist, "Agent DaSilva had volunteered for a series of psychic experiments at an undisclosed location known by The Bureau as simply 'Hangar 6,'" said 2K's Harley White-Wiedow, lead designer in a post on the website.
Players will be able to control Nico DaSilva and his squad who are "treated with an elerium-based compound gas in order to visualize and combat the mental defences of another agent infected with the 'Sleepwalker' pathogen."
The DLC offers players with new characters and stories, set during the 1960s. Since the DLC is set before the initial alien attacks, the protagonist of the game Agent Carter, has not yet been recruited into the top- secret organization.
"We did a lot of research on psychic and psychotropic military experiments of the 60s. We watched lots of videos of soldiers giggling in trees," 2K said.
"We read up on Remote Viewing (a series of government experiments wherein trained soldiers were supposedly able to know things about a subject using only Extra-Sensory Perception--that is, psychically). We stared really, really hard at goats."
The DLC will contain new abilities that will include new series of powers and perks based on "plant and trigger" abilities. Players will also be gaining access to weapons like the AK-47 and a prototype Microwave Gun.
Though this is an exclusive DLC for Xbox, it has also been said that the company is working on new content for PC and PlayStation 3.
Hangar 6 R&D DLC will be available for $4.99 on Oct. 8.
