Thala Ajith Kumar started his career in the film industry 23 years ago on 3 August and eventually made it big in Kollywood.
Today, he inspires hundreds of aspiring actors, who do not have any contacts in the industry, as Ajith made it big in Kollywood without any Godfather. The actor made his debut in Telugu films with "Prema Pustakam" in 1992. But it did not give him a major break. His first Tamil movie was "Amaravathi", which was an average hit.
However, after "Amaravathi", Ajith suffered a career-threatening injury while training for a motor race. He underwent three surgeries and this took an 18-month break at such a crucial stage. When he returned, he was offered supporting roles and his comeback movie was "Paasamalargal".
He also acted as a co-artist in Ilayathalapathy Vijay's "Rajavin Parvaiyile", which is the only movie in which the two stars acted together.
His major break came in the form of Vasanth's "Aasai", which was produced by Mani Ratnam. His next hit film was "Kadhal Kottai". Following this movie, his journey to stardom kick-started with a lot of ups and downs.
In the coming years, Ajith delivered hits like "Kadhal Mannan", "Vaali", "Amarakalam", "Kandukondain Kandukondain", "Dheena", "Attagasam", "Varalaaru", "Billa" and "Mankatha". These successful films established him as a star in Kollywood.
