Even as Ajith is in bed rest following multiple surgeries, the actor has not stopped discussing stories and planning his next film, which is referred to by media and fans as "Thala 57".
The latest buzz is that Ajith, who is basking in the success of "Vedalam", has given a green signal to a storyline. Yes, after acting in original stories, he is now getting ready to act in the remake of Malayalam hit movie "Bhaskar the Rascal".
A production house had approached him with several stories. But none impressed him. So, they had the remake rights of "Bhaskar the Rascal", they expressed their interest to remake in Tamil and Thala accepted the offer.
Now, the production house is yet to finalise the director, who should come up with good screenplay to suit the tastes of the Tamil cine-goers. However, sources close to the development say that Ajith has given the nod but the deal is yet to be signed on the dotted lines.
The makers will only be in a position to announce once they lock in the script. Earlier, there were plans to remake "Bhaskar the Rascal" with Rajinikanth in the lead role. But as the superstar had committed to his "Kabali", the project knocked the doors of Ajith.
"Bhaskar the Rascal" starred Mammootty and Nayantara in the lead roles. It was a family-oriented subject with substantial amount of mass elements. The movie was directed by Siddique of "Kaavalan" fame.
Meanwhile, Ajith has been advised to be in nine-week bedrest. He underwent shoulder and knee surgeries last week. On the other end, Siruthai Siva also has plans to direct the actor again after "Veeram" and "Vedalam".
If "Bhaskar the Rascal" does not take off in time, Ajith is likely to begin Siruthai Siva's film in early 2016.
