The makers of Ajith's forthcoming movie, which is presently referred to as Thala 57, have been keen on having a stylish actor to play the role of the baddie in the flick. They reportedly offered the character to a few big names of South India, but they could not take up the movie for one reason or the other.
As a result, the makers have now decided to rope in a Bollywood star as the villain in Thala 57. The latest buzz is that they have approached Abhishek Bachchan to play the role in Ajith's flick. He is a familiar name among Kollywood audience as his Guru directed by Mani Ratnam was dubbed in Tamil.
Moreover, he has got closer to Tamils after co-owning Chennaiyin FC (football franchise) in the Indian Super League. Hence, the makers seem to have felt that he would be an ideal B-town actor to play the role.
However, producer TG Thyagarajan has said that they are yet to finalise the villain for Thala 57. "We have not gone into that part of casting. Everything will be done in a couple of days when things will be announced officially," Deccan Chronicle quoted him as saying.
Earlier, the role was offered to biggies like Arvind Swami, Prasanna and Kiccha Sudeep. All three had politely rejected for some reasons.
Thala 57 is an international spy thriller in which Kajal Aggarwal and Akshara Haasan play the female leads. Thambi Ramaiah, Karunakaran, Appukutty and a few others have been signed to play the supporting characters.
The second schedule of shooting of Siruthai Siva-directorial is underway in Hyderabad.
