Ajith's "Thala 55" is one of the most-awaited Tamil films as the actor has teamed up with director Gautham Menon for the first time. In an exclusive interview to a daily, Gautham spoke about his upcoming project.
Talking about Ajith's role, Gautham told the daily that Thala appears as a "sophisticated" character in the film. Touted to be an action thriller, it will have all the commercial elements including action, romance and a family angle.
Gautham has revealed that "Thala 55," made with a budget of around ₹50 crore, is the biggest film in his career so far. The director stated that he would dub the film as "Distinguished Gentleman", if he had to name it in English.
"The story traces the journey of a man between the age of 12 and 38. The boy has everything, growing up, and then suddenly it's all taken away. What happens to him? The film, a drama, is made on a budget of around Rs. 50 crore and is the biggest of my career so far," director told The Hindu.
"It's an intermingling of several things that have worked for me. There's action, romance, and even a family angle. Ajith plays a sophisticated character, and if I had to title it in English, I'd probably call it Distinguished Gentleman," he said.
Gautham has further revealed that Ajith plays a dynamic character named Satyadev. If the film impresses the audience, he is planning to make several films in the franchise similar to "Dirty Harry."
