A new 'campus carry' law annnounced in Texas, which will pave the way for students to carry concealed guns on university campuses, has come under fire from a section of the students.
Now, rawstory.com reports that University of Texas students have announced a plan to openly carry dildos to mock the politics behind the new "campus carry" law that takes effect next year.
The protest by the university students has exposed them to virulent abuse on The Facebook page for the group Campus (DILDO) Carry. Moderators of the group are leaving the abusive comments of aggressive advocates of 'open carry' in the USA in place, to "show the kind of aggressive hostility open carry zealots display when they find out they're being mocked", rawstory.com adds.
The students formed a group to mock the gun fanatics in the USA who believe in 'open carry' - carrying weapons openly in the streets, malls and other public places. They are protesting Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R)'s signing of S.B. 11, a so-called "campus carry" law which says "license holders may carry a concealed handgun throughout university campuses, starting Aug. 1, 2016."
The #CocksNotGlocks protesters have decided to openly carry brightly colored sex toys like dildos and vibrators on campus as a protest against the gun fanatics, according to the Houston Chronicle.
The protest using dildos and other sex toys particularly angers the 'open carry' fanatics because of the psychological innuendo. The gun is seen as a phallic symbol that males who feel insecure about their masculinity seek to carry as a substitute in order to be seen as being 'macho'.
In a post on the Facebook page, Jessica Jin, founder of the #cocksnot glocks protest group, wrote: "You're carrying a gun to class? Yeah well I'm carrying a HUGE DILDO. Just about as effective at protecting us from sociopathic shooters, but much safer for recreational play." The group has invited like-minded protesters to join the protest scheduled for August. 1, 2016 — the first day of fall semester.
More than 2,000 people have already made known their intention to join the protest rally.
The Facebook page points out that sex toys are no legal in conservative Texas state where guns are, however, legal. The protesters fear that guns on Texas university campuses will lead to senseless killings, a regular feature of American society which has seen many tragic killings by wacko shooters in the past decade, especially in schools. Private universities are free to have their own policies about carrying guns on campus.
"The State of Texas has decided that it is not at all obnoxious to allow deadly concealed weapons in classrooms," said Jin, "however it DOES have strict rules about free sexual expression, to protect your innocence. You would receive a citation for taking a DILDO to class before you would get in trouble for taking a gun to class. Heaven forbid the penis."
Jin and other supporters of the protest are being flooded with abuse by 'open carry' fanatics. Jin's private contact information has been made available online — a trolling practice called "doxxing" — and the Facebook wall has been host to statements like: "I'm guessing that the organizer of this event is a huge slut. Should be funny to watch!" says rawstory.com.
"Can I ask you something Jessica? Not trying to troll, this is an honest hypothetcial question. If a criminal with nothing to lose found you and held a gun to your head and said he was going to end your life right then and there, and all you had on was a dildo and some school books, would you wish you had a gun hidden on you to protect yourself?" asked Chicago's Jim Rustles in a post on the Facebook page..
