Arjun Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha starrer "Tevar" had an average opening. The action romantic drama minted only ₹7 crore on day one of its release.
Directed by Amit Sharma, "Tevar" was released in 3,000 screens in India. The last big release on screens was Aamir Khan's "PK" and "Tevar" has hit the screens after three weeks.
It had an advantage of being the first mega release of 2015, but looks like the film failed to grab the opportunity at the box office. The opening day figure of the film is below average.
"Tevar" registered low occupancy in the morning shows and it remained same during the evening and night shows. The film witnessed around 30 to 40% occupancy throughout the day.
The opening day box office collection of the film is higher than Arjun's last film "Finding Fanny", but it's comparatively lower than his super-hit movies of 2014 "Gunday" and "2 States".
For Sonakshi, the opening day income is low compared to her three films released last year. "Lingaa", "Action Jackson" and "Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty" had a smashing first day income.
Nevertheless, the collection might pick up during the weekend holiday, as audiences have appreciated the masala entertainer.
"Tevar", produced by Sanjay Kapoor and Boney Kapoor, features Arjun, Sonakshi, Manoj Bajpayee and Raj Babbar in pivotal roles.
Meanwhile, the lead actor of the movie, Arjun, has said that after "Tevar" he would focus on one film at a time.
"An actor always wants to do selective work and concentrate on one film at a time. What I mean is that I would like to do one film at a time and put all my efforts into it," Arjun told reporters on Thursday.
"I am going to slow down to plan things better so that I can focus on one film at a time, and promote the film, and hopefully shoot the other film after that," he added.
