An initiative by Olives from Spain and the country's agriculture ministry will see tennis icon Rafael Nadal's debut in consumer print advertisement in India next month.
"Together they will promote the healthy properties and uses of Spanish olives as snack and key ingredient in the Mediterranean diet," Olives from Spain said in a press statement here.
Testifying to the popularity of this pickled fruit in urban India's food outlets serving continental dishes, the company said Spanish olives add a dose of health and flavour to Indian cuisine also.
"Following simple recipes and seasonings with an Indian twist, you can introduce the unique nutritional content of Spanish olives in your daily diet," Olives from Spain said.
"We have amazing produce such as Spanish olives and it's crucial to foster them so that more and more people can get to know and enjoy their values," Rafael Nadal said.
Nutritionists recommend eating at least seven olives a day for their significant content of vitamin E, calcium, oleic acid while being low in calories. Black olives are also an important source of iron.
"Olives from Spain is offering hundreds of ideas to place olives at the heart of your kitchen," the company said.
