A Telugu actor who has donned the role of a baddie in films, has turned into a villain in real life too.
Actor Abdul Rahman, who has acted in villainous roles in a few Telugu films including Ravi Teja's "Vikramarkudu" and Balakrishna's "Simha," was arrested for a murder attempt by the Humayun Nagar police on Monday (24 March).
Rahman alias Baba, 34, was held for stabbing Mohammed Fayaz, a hotel worker from Prem Nagar near Chacha Nehru Park at Masab Tank. During police interrogation, Rahman confessed that he had attacked Fayaz as he had personal grudges against him, reported Times of India.
Rahman used to stay as a tenant in the house belonging to Fayaz's sister-in-law Salma Nawaz at Banjara Hills. In January 2014, Rahman misbehaved with Salma, following which Fayaz and his relatives bashed up the actor.
A complaint was lodged at the Banjara Hills police station against the actor, while a counter case was filed against the relatives.
Following the incident, Rahman moved to another house in Vijay Nagar Colony and was looking for an opportunity to attack Fayaz. On 16 March, when the actor came to know Fayaz was at Masab Tank, he went there and stabbed him several times before fleeing the spot, reported the daily.
Fayaz escaped with injuries and lodged a complaint against the actor. Rahman was absconding since then and the police had launched a man hunt to nab him. He was arrested on Monday near his house in Vijaynagar Colony. A knife that was used to stab Fayaz, as well as a blood-stained shirt have been seized from the actor's possession.
