One person was injured on Thursday afternoon after three-member gang from Karnataka opened fire to avoid arrest near Neeru's showroom in Jubilee Hills, a posh suburban neighbourhood in Hyderabad.
The injured, identified as a Hyderabad Metro Rail worker, is undergoing treatment at a hospital. Hyderabad Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy said he was out of danger.
The incident occurred at around 1 pm on Road No. 36. Police arrested all the three members –Sami, Faheem Mirza and Abdul Qadar – of the gang later.
Based on a tip-off that a gang is in the area, police were checking vehicle when they stopped robbers on two motor bikes. The robbers tried to flee and opened fire in the air in an attempt to prevent arrest.
Reddy said the gang was allegedly planning to rob agents collecting cash from shopping malls or mobile phone showrooms in Madhapur. He said investigations are being conducted to know if the gang committed any crimes in the city, IANS reports.
