A 13-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped by a neighbour, delivered her baby in the washroom of her school in Madhapur area of Hyderabad, Telangana.
The Telangana Police believe that a neighbour, identified as Dinesh, had sexually assaulted her. They have registered a rape case against Dinesh after preliminary inquiry into the complaint filed on Monday, IANS reported.
Dinesh used to accompany the girl, a Class 9 student, to her school.
The incident took place on Saturday when the girl complained of stomach ache and the teacher sent her to the washroom. Both the school staff and the girl's parents have reportedly said they were not unaware of her pregnancy.
''She is very slim and would walk with a dupatta on her stomach and she would sit with her bag on her lap, so we didn't know,'' NDTV quoted the girl's teacher as saying.
However, the district education officer said that the parents seemed to have been aware of their daughter's state, but might not have revealed in fear of being shamed in the society.
