A video trailer of a new an upcoming action video game, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan, was leaked online even before its developer Platinum Games released it officially.
But following the leak, the company put out a video on their official website and Facebook page.
The Facebook post was more descriptive, and noted players would "battle alongside your brothers through the sewers, subways, and streets of NYC to take down Shredder and Krang's evil organization, Foot by Foot (sic)".
It also added players would be able to "unleash" custom combat skills and team combos in order to save Manhattan from the clutches of the "dark forces growing in the shadows".
The 1:30-minute video shows shadowy ninja figures emerging from sewers onto the streets. We see The Shredder of the Foot Clan commanding these shadowy figures. April O'Neil is also shown, telling the four mutant brothers Donatello, Leonardo, Michelangelo and Raphael the new enemies "are really really bad guys."
The video also shows a powerful combo in action, packing the attackers into oblivion. We also see one of the mutants saying: "If they want war, we will give them war".
Xbox.com shared more details, and said the game would include:
- Assemble your team in 4-player online co-op mode!
- Fight fan-favorite enemies like Bebop and Rocksteady!
- Visually stunning, fast-paced combat true to PlatinumGames' signature style.
- Gritty comic-inspired art style turns a new chapter in TMNT history!
- Original story penned by IDW Comic's TMNT author, Tom Waltz.
Eiro Shirahama, game director, was quoted by Coming Soon as saying: "We've put a lot more into this game than just combat. You can climb walls, glide along wires, and there's a lot of freedom of movement that ties into the action. With this game, players will be able to feel like they're the Turtles themselves, running, grinding, and gliding around NYC to prevent crimes."
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan is expected to release in summer 2016 for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
