Arden Cho will not be returning for Season 6 of MTV's "Teen Wolf."
The actress, who plays Kira, announced via an emotional YouTube video that the show has wrapped up Kira's storyline and she won't be joining the gang when they return later this year.
"I just want to say I love Kira Yukimura so much," she says in the video. "I love the Yukimura family. I loved my experience on Teen Wolf. I love the cast and crew, it's been an amazing three-and-a-half years. It's gone by so fast, but unfortunately, it looks like we are wrapped up with Kira's storyline and she won't be coming back for Season 6."
Season 5 finale saw Kira joining the Skinwalkers. But before she left she gave Scott her obsidian "tail" and asked him to keep it safe for her. The Season 5 finale episode titled "Apotheosis" also saw Lydia saying Kira will be back soon as she still has to graduate. But now, it looks like the show is done with Kira once and for all.
In an earlier interview with TVLine, executive producer Jeff Davis remained evasive when asked what the future held for Kira. "There are some big changes coming to the show next season; you'll have to wait and see the fate of Kira," he said shortly after the Season 5 finale in March 2016. As for why she was absent for most of the episodes, the executive producer said "Teen Wolf" was more like "The Walking Dead" where some episodes are focused only on certain characters.
"It was partially because we wanted her to go down a difficult path. We wanted to see her with her mother in the desert, to make sure we gave her a full episode to explore her character. As for certain characters not being in certain episodes, it's a lot like The Walking Dead — some episodes, we just focus on different characters," he noted.
