The upcoming season of "Teen Wolf" is going to throw a lot of challenges at Stiles and Malia, and there are chances that everything might not end up smooth for the pair.
Season 5 of "Teen Wolf" is said to be the darkest yet, with secrets playing a role in making or breaking relationships. These secrets and moments of self discovery will test each and every relationship, including that of Stiles and Malia.
"The Desert Wolf [her mother] is huge for Malia," executive producer Jeff Davis told BuzzFeed. "It's going to affect her deeply and make her question the kind of person she is. It could even affect her relationship with Stiles and tear them apart."
Shelley Hennig, who plays Malia, also hinted that the strength of her relationship with Stiles will be put to test.
"It's really important to Stiles to help me figure it who the Desert Wolf is, who my mother is. There's also a fear there to figure out is she good [or] is she evil?" Hennig told HollywoodLife. Will it change their relationship? "It could. That whole situation is not easy for a 17-year-old so hopefully Stiles makes it a smoother process."
However, actor Dylan O'Brien believes the two have a shot at real romance, equating their relationship to that of Ross and Rachel from "Friends".
"You can always expect [drama], but the [nice] stuff is just cuter to me," he told HollywoodLife. "I'm a fan of 'Ross and Rachel' relationships!"
The theme for season 5 is the need to stick together, as more supernatural villains make their way to Beacon Hills, making it difficult for the teens to live there and graduate peacefully.
Cody Christian of "Pretty Little Liars" fame will make his appearance as a lone wolf named Theo in the next season, and his presence and secrets are expected to attract a number of supernatural monsters.
"Teen Wolf" returns to MTV in June.
