HMD Global Oy has been very busy in 2018, launching several (more than 10) new Android phones and when we thought it is done for the year, the company is gearing up for another product announcement in Taiwan.
Nokia Mobile Taiwan's Facebook handle has begun teasing a new phone with really thin bezels on the front-panel. In the teaser image, the phone's display with a captured image of northern lights is in uniformity with the backdrop of the actual place.
It also has an URL link, which takes us to ze.media, which we believe will broadcast the launch event. However, there is a surprise for fans, as the company has shown off the device's front panel with a message 'New phone. It has really slim bezels at the top, left and right sides and a marginally thicker bezel at the bottom.'
In the second teaser, we can actually see the sleek display of the Nokia phone and the camera features including Portrait mode, front-to-back camera swap, video recording and LED flash among others.
There are a couple of theories floating on the internet, while some are claiming it to be the much-anticipated flagship Nokia 9 with five cameras and others are saying it might be the Nokia X7.
We have been hearing about the Nokia X7 since June and an image of its display panel with a notch also got leaked last month on the internet. This apparently rules out the Nokia X7, as the upcoming device shown in the official teaser lacks the 'notch'.
So, is the mystery HMD Global phone in the teaser -- Nokia 9?
We are not just ready to jump the gun yet, as the leaked image of Nokia 9 with five cameras on the back is too fanciful to be true. Yes, Huawei P20 Pro with triple camera module did get itself top ranked camera phone on DxOMark rating. But we are still sceptical about what advantages five cameras will bring in to the table. Take, for instance, Google's Pixel 2 series is one of top three camera phones on the market and it has a just single sensor.
We just have to wait for few more days. Since HMD Global Oy hasn't announced the launch date of the device, it is likely to release more teasers about its key features.
