A new Guinness World Record for the fastest hole in golf by a team of four has been broken in spectacular fashion by Team France. Up against Spain and Denmark, Frances team of Raphael Jacquelin, Alex Levy, Gregory Havret and Romain Wattel – all professional PGA golfers – set the time of 34.8 seconds, smashing the old record of 68 seconds in style.
The challenge required a team of four to complete the 500-yard par five hole at the Real Club Valderrama with the aid of golf buggies to speed them along the fairway. The Spanish team was captained by Sergio Garcia, the host of the Open de Espana tournament.
Garcia ruined his teams hopes of setting a time after hitting his shot in the water much, to the amusement of the French who then went on to beat the record, with Gregory Harvet tapping in the final putt.
