Happy teachers' day 2015

In order to honour the contributions of teachers all over the country, Indians celebrate Teachers' Day on 5 September on the birth anniversary of second Indian President and academic philosopher Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

Students organise a variety of programmes and activities dedicated to their teachers. Just like each one of us have some favourite teachers, there are so many teacher's roles in Malayalam films that we will never forget.

Thilakan as Chacko Maash in "Spadikam"

If asked to name a teacher's role in Malayalam films, Keralites will never forget to say Thilakan's character Chacko maash in Mohanlal's hit film "Spadikam". Thilakan portrayed the role of a strict Mathematics teacher, who has won the president's medal in the subject. He believes Mathematics is the base of the universe (Bhulokathinte spandanam Mathematics il aanu) and punishes his students severely. 

Mohanlal as Vinayachandran in "Life is Beautiful"

In the 2000 film "Life is Beautiful", Mohanlal was seen as a friendly teacher, who sings, dances and enjoys with his plus-two students. 

 Mammootty as Nandakumar Varma in "Mazhayethum Munpe"

Mammootty's role as a college professor Nandakumar is one of the best roles the actor has done in his acting career. He was seen as a serious professor, who has a fight with a gang of girls led by Shruthi, played by actress Annie.

Vinay Forrt as Vimal Sir in "Premam"

Nivin Pauly's "Premam" has become a box office hit of 2015 and just like the lead characters, Vinay Forrt's role as Vimal Sir was also loved by viewers. With his 'knowlegede' of Java, everybody understood that the software is "very powerful, simple, safe and robust".

Sai Pallavi as Malar Miss in "Premam"

Malar miss of "Premam" has become a role model for being the best and friendly teacher, who encourages her students a lot. Despite the character being criticised for falling in love with her student, acting in the film has made Sai Pallavi the favourite of many movie-lovers.

 Jagathy Sreekumar as Pandit Deenadayal in "Pranchiyettan & the Saint"

Versalite actor Jagathy has mesmerised his fans through his variety of roles and his character as a tuition teacher Deenadayal in Mammootty starrer "Pranchiyettan & the Saint" is one of the best roles of the actor.

Prithviraj as Vinayachandran in "Manikyakkallu"

The film "Manikyakkallu" shows the condition of a government school, which is is likely to be shut down due to less number of students. Vinayachandran, played by Prithviraj, tries to make a difference by preparing the students to face the SSLC examinations and making the school one of the best schools in the locality. The actor received a lot of accolades for his performance as a teacher in the film.
