Bollywood actress Vidya Balan is garnering praise from critics for her latest release, "Te3n," and now is set to start the shooting of "Begum Jaan." The Sreejit Mukherjee directorial is the Hindi remake of the Bengali film "Rajkahini."
Vidya will play the role of a brothel's madam in "Begum Jaan," and will team up again with Naseeruddin Shah in this flick. Produced by Mahesh Bhatt, the film is set to go on floors by next week and will be shot in the scorching heat of Jharkhand for a month.
"It's gonna be a little over a month, to be precise," Vidya told SpotboyE, "And mind you I have never been to Jharkhand in my life. I am told that the temperature will be around 45 degrees even on the days it has rained. Imagine the scorching heat that lies ahead for me."
Set in the backdrop of the Partition, "Begum Jaan" is not the only movie Vidya is working on this year. "I am working very hard this year. It's going to be a very challenging time for me. I have never done four films in a year, but now I have 'Te3N,' 'Ekk Albela' (Marathi), 'Begum Jaan' and then the biopic of Kamala Das. Bring it on!" Vidya said.
The actress will also be seen in Sujoy Ghosh's "Kahaani 2." Most of Vidya's films are somehow shot in Kolkata or has a Bengali connection. Even, the original version of "Begum Jaan" was in Bengali. The actress is quite excited to work with Naseeruddin for the third time. They had earlier done films like "The Dirty Picture" and "Ishqiya."
"I am looking forward to working with Naseer saab. Naseer and me have worked in completely two different worlds in the 'The Dirty Picture' and 'Ishqiya,' and this again is a diametrically opposite world. It's always exciting and nerve-wracking to work with him," Vidya Balan told IANS.
