Telugu Desam Party (TDP) will soon decide if its going to join the Cabinet of ministers in the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre, said TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday afternoon.
This was revealed by Naidu in Hyderabad, before he left for Delhi to participate in the NDA meeting. Naidu is leading the party's MPs and visiting Delhi along with them, where a decision on joining the union government is likely to be taken on Tuesday. On the invitation of BJP president Rajnath Singh, Jana Sena founder and actor Pawan Kalyan has also left for Delhi to attend the NDA meeting.
Naidu made it clear that his government and party would give priority to development of the state and the nation and that is why TDP supported Modi-led BJP in the first place. Naidu said that he would not hanker for power.
Governor praises Naidu as workaholic
Meanwhile, earlier on Monday, Naidu met the Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimahan along with his elected MLAs and MPs. The Governor welcomed the TDP leaders and offered sweets to Naidu for winning the election to both Lok Sabha and the Assembly with a vast majority.
Narasimhan took the occasion to flatter Naidu and called him a workaholic. He also advised the newly elected MLAs and MPs to emulate Naidu and strive for the welfare of people in their respective constituencies.
The Governor also enquired about when Naidu would take oath as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and was told that the government in the state would be formed after 2 June, the appointed day for both Telangana and Seemandhra.
Narasimhan also recalled his past association with Naidu, when he was with the Union Home Ministry's Intelligence Department.
