Taylor Swift is known for seeking inspiration from her failed relationships for her songs, and her latest single "Shake It Off" has a special mention of Harry Styles, and his former girlfriend Kendall Jenner.
"She has a line that is very specific to Harry. When she talks about her ex bringing his new girlfriend that's Harry and Kendall," a source revealed to HollywoodLife.
The offending line is a part of Swift's mid rap, where she sings: "My ex man brought his new girlfriend. She's like [in a Valley Girl voice] 'oh my gosh'."
While the ex could have been any of Swift's former boyfriends, the singer hints that it is Styles when she describes him as the one with "hella good hair."
"Shake It Off" is said to be generally inspired by all of her ex boyfriends, and a source told HollywoodLife that it is a mashup of all her dating experiences.
"Her big theme with this album is finding herself outside of a relationship. Everyone knows her as this total boy crazy romantic but she's been working so hard to be okay on her own, without a guy, and she's proud of how far she's come. She feels like no one realizes how much she's changed. It's a message to other women but it's also stuff she wishes she could go back in time and tell herself," the source said.
Interestingly, just days after Swift released the song, she was spotted coming out of Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, Calif., around the same time as her former boyfriend John Mayer. Although this sparked speculation that the two have rekindled their romance, a source immediately clarified that nothing could be further from the truth.
"When Taylor saw John it was as if she saw a ghost," a HollywoodLife source revealed. "She was horrified and, for a moment, contemplated leaving. Cooler heads prevailed and she acted as if she didn't see him but she totally knew he was there and was uncomfortable."
The source added that they are not dating, and the two did not even share pleasantries.
Swift's song "Dear John" is believed to be about Mayer, whom she briefly dated in 2010.
