Vijay Devarakonda's Taxiwala (Taxiwaala) has fared well at the worldwide box office on the weekdays and the six-day first week collection has surpassed Rs 25 crore gross mark in the global market.
Taxiwala had a huge hype and curiosity generated by its promos and the makers had also spent heavily on its publicity before its release. But the movie faced a threat in the form of Amar Akbar Anthony, which hit the screens on November 16. Hence, the makers delayed its release by a day. Since the Ravi Teja starrer opened to negative response, the movie went on to get a decent opening.
The Vijay Devarakonda starrer received positive talk and the word of mouth helped it maintain rock-steady at the ticket counters on the following days. Taxiwala has collected Rs 17.30 crore gross in the (2 days) first weekend and Rs 10.53 crore gross on the weekdays. Its six-day total collection stands at Rs 27.83 crore gross.
Taxiwala has shattered the lifetime record of Vijay Devarakonda's last outing NOTA, which become a big flop with its collection Rs 25.40 crore gross. However, its business is much lower than his hit films Arjun Reddy and Geetha Govindam, which minted Rs 31.10 crore gross and Rs 75 crore gross, respectively at the worldwide box office in their opening weeks.
The makers had reportedly sold its theatrical rights days before the release of Arjun Reddy. Hence its rights were sold for lower prices. The movie has earned approximately Rs 14.56 crore for its distributors and become another blockbuster for Vijay Devarakonda.
