Tata Motors' newest offering the Zica sedan made headlines early December when the company released the pictures and other details of the vehicle. While most of the information is out already, the price details have been reserved for the launch in January.
A report in NDTVauto claims the company has decided 20 January as the launch date of Zica sedan. The Zica, which is the first product of Tata Motors in new design language, is on the copiously tweaked Xo platform of Indica. Zica, which got its name from 'Zippy' cars, will be pinned to rival Maruti Celerio, Hyundai i10 and the Chevrolet Beat in the country.
Tata Zica will be available in petrol and diesel mills in India. The 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine will develop out 83.8bhp of power at 6000 rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3500rpm, while the 1.0-litre three-cylinder diesel engine will churn out 69bhp of power 4000rpm and 140Nm of torque between 1800-3000rpm. Both engines will be mated to five speed manual gearbox. There is no AMT option on offer for now. Tata Zica also gets Multi Drive such as ECO, City and Sport like the company's Zest and Bolt.
The hatchback measures 3,746mm in length, 1,647mm in width, 1535mm in height and wheelbase of 2400mm. It comes with a ground clearance of 170mm and offers a boot space of 242-litres. Tata Zica petrol variant weighs 1,012kgs and the diesel variant weighs 1,080kgs.
The Zica will boast of Harman infotainment system with 8 speakers, steering mounted audio controls for telephony, electrically adjustable ORVM and cooled glove box. The hatchback also comes equipped with ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System), EBD (Electronic BrakeForce Distribution) and Corner Stability Control.
