Tata Motors' new hatchback, the Zica, is inching closer to launch which is scheduled after Auto Expo 2016 in mid-February. Ahead of the launch, dealerships have started receiving the hatchback for test drive and display purposes.
IndianAutosBlog snapped the top-end Tata Zica XT Revotron engine in south India. According to the reports, Tata Motors is planning to commence bookings for the hatchback at the Auto Expo 2016 scheduled to begin on 3 February.
The Zica, which is the first product of Tata Motors' Impact design language, is based on the copiously tweaked Xo platform of Indica. Tata Zica will be available in Revotron petrol and Revotorq diesel mills in India. The 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine will develop out 83.8bhp of power at 6000 rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3500rpm, while the 1.05-litre three-cylinder diesel engine will churn out 69bhp of power 4000rpm and 140Nm of torque between 1800-3000rpm.
Both the engines will be mated to five speed manual gearbox and the AMT gear option is expected to join the range later. Tata Zica also gets Multi Drive such as ECO, City and Sport like the company's Zest sedan and Bolt hatchback.
Despite being a small hatchback, the Zica will boast of Harman infotainment system with 8 speakers, steering mounted audio controls for telephony, electrically adjustable ORVM and cooled glove box. The hatchback also comes equipped with ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System), EBD (Electronic BrakeForce Distribution) and Corner Stability Control.
The Zica will be pinned to rival Maruti Celerio, Hyundai i10 and the Chevrolet Beat in the country. The industry reports indicate an estimated price range of Rs 3.6 lakh to 5.66 lakh, ex-showroom.
