A disguised test mule of Tata's upcoming Zest sedan was caught on camera once again ahead of its speculated launch in August.
Tata Zest, a car which was unveiled at Delhi Auto Expo 2014, has been getting a lot of attention since then and the company will officially reveal the car next month. The company has already commenced the booking for the Zest sedan in India with an advance payment of ₹21,000 and buyers can book their Zest on the company's official website through any online payment mode.
While the latest set of spy shots posted by Rushlane shows a heavily camouflaged Zest, repeated sightings of the vehicle on test have painted a clear picture of what to expect from Tata Motors' upcoming sedan.
Underpinning Tata Manza, the soon-to-be-launched Zest will get power from a 1.3 litre Quadrajet motor and 1.2 litre, four-cylinder petrol engine. The diesel 1.3 litre Quadrajet motor will generate 90 PS power at 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm torque at 1,750-3,000 rpm and the 1.2 litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged Revotron engine pumps out a power of 85 PS at 5,000 rpm and a peak torque of 140 Nm at 1,750-3,000 rpm. While the diesel engine is rumoured to come with 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT), the petrol motor is expected to come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The vehicle is likely to get safety features like dual airbags, ABS and EBD. Other speculated features of Tata Zest, India's first sedan with Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) technologies, include projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, 15-inch alloy wheels, reverse parking sensor and corner stability control.
A previous report also indicated that Tata Zest will come with six year warranty and several other packages. The standard warranty of the car will cover the first three years and the extended warranty will cover next three years. Apparently, the company would also provide three-year annual maintenance coverage with free 24x7 roadside assistance.
The Zest is likely to carry a price tag ranging from ₹6 lakh-₹8 lakh and once it hits the market, it will face serious competition from segment's current leaders Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Xcent and Honda Amaze.
