Tata Motors has reportedly confirmed the launch of its much anticipated Zest sedan in the country next month.
Zest, Tata's upcoming sedan, which was first seen at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014 has been making news in the country for quite some time now. Now a latest report of IndianAutosBlog, citing Tata's officials says that the Zest launch will happen in August. Zest has already made numerous appearances on the web through spy shots and leaked reports. By now, the auto enthusiasts in the country have a fairly good idea of what is offered in Zest and how does it look.
From what we know so far, Zest will be powered by a 1.3 litre Quadrajet motor, producing 90 PS power at 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm torque at 1,750-3,000 rpm and 1.2 litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged Revotron engine, which can churn out a power of 85 PS at 5,000 rpm and a peak torque of 140 Nm at 1,750-3,000 rpm. Measuring 3,995 mm in length, 1,695 mm in width and 1,570 mm in height, Zest is touted as India's first sedan with Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) technologies.
Expected to be manufactured at the Ranjangaon facility alongside Tata Manza, Zest is likely to parade a slew of features like projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, 15-inch alloy wheels, reverse parking sensor and corner stability control. On the safety front, the car is likely to get dual airbags, ABS and EBD.
If rumours are to be believed the new Zest will fall in the price range of ₹6 lakh-₹8 lakh and will take on the likes of Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Xcent.
Tata Zest launch is likely to be followed by the launch of the Tata Bolt Hatchback in the country. Bolt has also been spied testing in the country innumerable times. It will be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options. While the petrol model of Bolt will come with 1.2 liter Revotron turbo petrol engine, which can churn out a power of 84 bhp at 5,000 rpm and a torque of 140 Nm at 1,750-3,500 rpm, the diesel version of the car will pack 1.3 liter Multijet diesel motor.
