A couple of prototypes of what appears to be the facelifted Xenon pick-up have been spotted in India, confirming that the work on the new avatar of the lifestyle pick-up is progressing rapidly. While it is not clear if the Xenon facelift is being developed for the Indian market or for the international market, where the current model is on sales, the prototypes look interesting.
The latest spy shot of the Xenon facelift comes from Team BHP and the most intriguing part is that it was spotted with long-rumoured automatic transmission (AT). The Xenon facelift was spied alongside Ford Ranger pick-up. Since the Ford Ranger spotted was an older version, in all possibility, that is being used for the benchmarking purpose.
Tata Hexa: Everything you need to know
From the images, Xenon, in its new avatar seems to have got reworked front bumper with updated grille and reworked foglight enclosure. The facelifted version is also expected to get seats upholstered in leather, GPS navigation and Bluetooth compatibility, electric windows, power steering with tilt-adjustable steering, and an audio system with an MP3 player. On the safety front, it will feature ABS and dual front airbags.
Although the other details about Xenon are scanty at this point in time, rumours are rife that the engine could also be re-tuned to churn out more power than the current 138bhp. Xenon is powered by a 2.2-litre Dicor diesel unit that develops 320Nm of torque mated to five-speed manual transmission.
Popular UV-maker Mahindra is also testing the new Scorpio Getaway in India. The new Scorpio Getaway is expected to enter the market by the end of 2016 and will take on the likes of the Tata Xenon and Isuzu D-Max V-Cross.
