The X451 will be based on Tata's Advanced Modular Platform (AMP). Tata Motors has plans to release several new models based on the same platform till 2020. The X451 will be powered by a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel mill borrowed from the Nexon compact SUV. The engines are expected to develop power in the range of 100-110bhp and will be offered either in a six-speed manual or AMT transmission options.
Being premium model, the X451 will boast of best in class interior. The hatchback is expected with Harman infotainment system with reverse camera, navigation, telephone connectivity and 15-inch alloy wheels. The dual airbags, ABS with EBD is also expected as standard. The X451 will be priced at a range Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.
The reports further suggest the possibility of a premium sedan based on the X451, which will be pitted against the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the Honda City. If Tata goes ahead with the X451 premium sedan, it will fill the void in the company's product portfolio left by the discontinued Manza sedan.
