Tata Motors' Tiago hatchback has started arriving at dealerships across the country ahead of its possible launch by March-end. A fresh batch of images of the Tiago on display at a dealership in Goa has started doing the rounds, bolstering the belief that its launch is not far off.
Although it was widely rumoured that the Tata Tiago launch had been scheduled for March 28, the company had confirmed to International Business Times, India, it was yet to announce the official launch date of the Tiago. Sources had also said the Tiago would be available for test drives by March-end. Now, the motor buffs at Goa on wheels have shared a new set of images of the Tiago, believed to have been taken at a dealership in Goa, where it is on display.
For the uninitiated, Tata Tiago, the hatchback from the makers of Nano, is the first product of the company's Impact design language, and is based on the copiously tweaked Xo platform of the Indica.
Powering the Tiago is a 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron petrol engine that will churn out 83.8bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3,500rpm, and a 1.0-litre three-cylinder Revotorq diesel engine that will produce 69bhp of power 4,000rpm and 140Nm of torque at 1,800-3,000rpm. Both engines will come mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
Tata Tiago, renamed from Zica following the Zika virus outbreak in many countries, is likely to get a price tag in the range of Rs 3.9 lakh to Rs 5.5 lakh. The Tiago will be available in six colour choices, and will pack features like a Harman infotainment system with eight speakers, steering-mounted audio controls for telephony and a cooled glove box.
Bookings for the Tiago are open in the country with a down-payment of Rs 10,000.
