Tata Motors' new hatchback Tiago is all set to make its market entry in India April 6. The much-awaited hatchback, which was unveiled in December last year, is expected to go on sale with a price tag of Rs.3.9 lakh (Ex-showroom).
The Tiago, which was previously named Zica, is available for bookings across the dealerships of the company with a down-payment of Rs. 10,000. The car has started arriving at the showrooms of the company and is expected to start the delivery immediately after the launch.
Under the hood, the Tiago will pack a 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron petrol and a 1.0-litre three-cylinder Revotorq diesel engine. While the petrol mill will dish out 83.8bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3,500rpm, the diesel engine will generate 69bhp of power 4,000rpm and 140Nm of torque at 1,800-3,000rpm. The transmission in both petrol and diesel variants will be taken care of by a five-speed manual gearbox.
The Tiago will take on the likes of Hyundai i10 and Maruti Celerio in the hatchback segment. As far as the features are concerned, the new Tata offering will come packed with Harman infotainment system with eight speakers, steering-mounted audio controls for telephony and a cooled glove box. On the safety front, it has ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System), EBD (Electronic BrakeForce Distribution) and Corner Stability Control.
The Tiago is the first product of the company's Impact design language and is based on the copiously tweaked Xo platform of the Indica.
