The Tiago is one of the most successful launch of Tata Motors in recent times which clocked monthly sales of more than 4,000 units. Emerging reports indicates that the increased sales of the hatchback have continued in September as well.
The first vehicle which features Impact design language of Tata Motors has found 4,557 takers last month according to autopunditz.com. Riding on Tiago, Tata Motors posted a growth of 24 percent in passenger vehicle sales to 14,601 units as against 11,732 units in September 2015.
In August, Tiago sales stood at 4,527 units. The sales of new hatchback in April, May, June and July was 3,022 units, 3,287 units, 4,205 units and 5,114 units, respectively. The hatchback, which made its market entry in April, has been clocking sizeable numbers and the company has been recording steady growth.
Booking for the Tiago now is believed to be over 40,000 units and waiting period varies from two to three months depending on the city. The lion's share of the booking are for the petrol variants of the Tiago.
Tiago is powered by two engines -- 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron petrol and 1.05-litre three-cylinder Revotorq diesel. The petrol mill churns out 83.8bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3,500rpm, while the diesel mill produces 69bhp of power at 4,000rpm and 140Nm of torque at 1,800-3,000rpm. Both the engines come mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
Tata Motors has increased the prices of the Tiago in August by Rs. 6,000, except the base variant (XB). The petrol variants are now priced from Rs 3.20 lakh to Rs 4.81 lakh, while the diesel variants will cost between Rs 3.94 lakh to Rs 5.60 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.
