Tata Motors is expected to bring its Nexon compact SUV to the Indian market in late 2016. The company has already begun testing the model on Indian roads, and auto lovers got the first glimpse of the model on the roads a few days ago.
Now the latest interesting tidbit on Nexon comes from MotorOctane, revealing that the powertrain of Nexon will also include a new 1.5-litre petrol engine from the Revotron family. The engine is likely to develop a power of 100bhp.
Tata Nexon, the concept of which was revealed at the Auto Expo 2014, is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 6-10 lakh. Reports also indicate the maker could bring the Nexon to the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo in February.
To pitted against Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300 in India, the seven-seater compact SUV is also rumoured to get 1.2-litre petrol Revotron engine and the 1.3-litre Multijet engine that also does duty in Bolt and Zest. Previous reports had indicated that Tata was considering employing the new 1.5-litre multijet diesel engine Fiat is currently working on.
