Rumour mills are on a roll for past couple of months spinning stories about the launch of the Nexon compact SUV in India, its features and many more. While it has almost been confirmed that the Nexon will not see the light of the day in India this year, the question still remains unanswered - when is it coming to the market?
Now if the emerging reports are to be believed, Tata is readying this compact SUV for the second half of next year. The early part of 2017 is likely to see the launch of the Hexa and Tiago AMT and this could be followed by the launch of the Nexon in the second half of 2017.
Although the Nexon was expected to come to the market during this festive season, reports suggested that the launch has been pushed to a later date as the company is revisiting the strategy of its upcoming models including the Nexon and the Kite 5. However, the Nexon continues its test runs on the Indian roads. The Nexon was also caught on camera while undergoing testing countless times, with the latest one being the test mule of the SUV giving a hint at the Sunburst Orange body shade.
Tata's Nexon was showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 earlier this year. Built on the heavily-modified Tata X1 platform of Indica, the Nexon is likely to get a 1.2-litre turbo-charged petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. To be pitted against, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV 300 in India, the Nexon SUV is expected to get a price tag in the range of Rs 6.5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.
