The wait for the Nexon compact SUV from the house of Tata Motors seems to be getting longer. While it was said earlier that the much-awaited Nexon compact SUV would hit the Indian road in 2016-end, the latest bit is that the launch could happen only by mid-2017.
The Nexon was initially rumoured to be launched in the country towards the end of this year, but Tata is said to have pushed it to 2017 as the company has a string of models lined up for this year. Tata Nexon had joined the company's pavilion at the Auto Expo 2016 in February and generated great response.
Tata had also showcased the Hexa MPV and the Tiago hatchback at the auto show. While the Tiago hatchback made its entry into the market in April this year, the Hexa is waiting to hit the showrooms during the festive season this year. Tata is also expected to launch the automated manual transmission (AMT) version of the Tiago and the Tiago Aktiv crossover this year in India.
Tata Nexon, which would take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 6.5 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh. It is expected to come with features like keyless entry, push start/top button, reverse-parking camera and a 6.5-inch infotainment system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity. Other features expected to be included are LED tail-lamps with chrome accents, 16-inch alloy wheels and projector headlamps with daytime running lamps (DRLs).
Under the hood, the compact SUV of Tata is likely to get a1.2-litre turbo-charged petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The transmission in the upcoming Tata compact SUV is likely to be taken care of by six-speed AMT box.
