A prototype of Tata Nexon has been spied testing in the state of Himachal Pradesh giving a closer look at the front profile of the model. Nexon is a compact SUV from Tata that has been in the news for some time now.
Tata has pinned its hopes on the Nexon and is keen to take the model through multiple testing processes to iron out any possible faults. The latest image of the Nexon on the web is believed to be that of the vehicle taken in Himachal Pradesh while the model going through high altitude testing in complete camouflage.
With a possible launch date during the festive season of Diwali, it does not come as a surprise to see more images of the Nexon finding their way to the web. A couple of weeks ago, images of a launch-ready Nexon were in the headlines. Nexon first made an appearance at the Auto Expo last year and was also taken to Tata's Geneva Auto Show portfolio in March this year.
For Nexon, it will not be a rosy ride as there are many contenders in its segment already. Although a late entrant in the country, it is expected to win over compact SUV segment with its contemporary design and competitive price tag. It is rumoured Nexon will fall in the price brackets of Rs 6.5 lakh- Rs 10 lakh. Tata Nexon will face off against Maruti Suzuki's hot-selling model Vitara Brezza and Ford's EcoSport.
Powering the Nexon will be a 1.5-litre Revotorq diesel mill mated to six-speed manual transmission gearbox while it is also expected to be offered in the petrol engine option. The Nexon petrol models are expected to come powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged unit.
From a visual stand point, the Nexon will boast of chrome 'Humanity Line' on the upper grille and feature projector headlamps with daytime running lights (DRLs). At the rear, Nexon will get LED tail lamps, a contrast tone rising beltline finisher and a floating roof. Nexon will get plastic cladding and will also ride on 17-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the Nexon is expected to feature openable console with an armrest, integrated dashboard design and ergonomically-placed storage spaces. Tata is also expected to offer an array of features such as automatic climate control with rear AC vents, infotainment system with a dash-top touchscreen and voice-command recognition.
