Tata Motors introduced Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) equipped Nexon variant in May this year. However, it was offered only in the top-spec XZA+ trim that costs Rs 9.41 lakh for petrol variant and Rs 10.38 lakh for diesel versions (ex-showroom Delhi). Now the company has launched a more affordable XM variant with the AMT gearbox option.
Christened as Tata Nexon XMA, the petrol AMT version is priced at Rs 7.50 lakh while diesel AMT combination will cost Rs 8.53 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). In comparison to the range-topping XZA variant, the Tata Nexon XMA+ petrol is nearly Rs 2 lakh cheaper, while the diesel XMA+ variant is about Rs 1.77 lakh.
Tata Nexon XMA is identical to the other variants of the Nexon in design. Tata Motors has added a new Ivory White roof colour option to further accentuate the Coupe-inspired design of the compact SUV with the new variant.
The AMT gearbox for the Tata Nexon is a six-speed unit. It comes with manual mode option for more spirited drives. In addition, Tata Motors has also incorporated three driving modes — Eco, City, and Sport.
The AMT unit is mated to 1.2-litre turbocharged Revotron petrol that produces 108bhp and 170 Nm of peak torque, while the 1.5-litre Revotorq diesel dishes out 108bhp and 260 Nm of peak torque.
The Nexon XMA offers all the features offered with the regular Nexon XM variant. These include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, wheel covers for the steel wheels, Harman infotainment system with USB, Aux and Bluetooth connectivity, steering-mounted audio controls, rear parking sensors, follow-me-home headlamps, power windows, central locking and power-adjustable ORVMs.
